About us

Intention on the festival

This work as all meaningful work is collective, is the cumulation of various collaborations with local people and people beyond Montreal.

Our primary goal is to support independent Black cinema and from the Global South, make this cinema accessible, gather, learn together, discuss and listen to each other.

We hope this programming opens you to the possibilities of what can be done beyond the canon of cinema as we know it. We are excited to share this experience alongside you.

Thank you to all the filmmakers, the public and all of the people who have been involved in making this first edition such a beautiful, organic and transformative experience.

“Our imaginations are precious and it’s something that cannot be touched” as said by Édouard Glissant.

We call on everyone to keep mobilizing for all occupied Black and Indigenous people who are still subjugated to imperialism, colonialism, patriarchy and capitalism.
